Grover Beach is a city in San Luis Obispo County, California, United States. The population was 13,067 at the 2000 census. This city was originally called, "Grover City". The City of Grover Beach covers 2.25 square miles and is located along the beautiful Central Coast of California, 92 miles north of Santa Barbara and 150 miles south of Monterey. Every winter from November through February, thousands of Monarch butterflies may be found in a grove of eucalyptus trees at the Pismo State Beach Butterfly Grove, just half a mile north of the Grover Beach Train Station and adjacent to one segment of the Beach Boardwalk. This is one of the largest over wintering sites for these butterflies in the United States.
The Train Station is within a short walking distance of the State Beach, a Beach Boardwalk with spectacular views overlooking the dunes and Pacific Ocean, Monarch Butterfly Grove, as well as many local restaurants and businesses.
