A little about Saint John...

Saint John is the largest city in the province of New Brunswick and the oldest incorporated city in Canada. In May 2006 the City had a population of 69,961 and its Census Metropolitan Area (CMA) population was 126,000 (Enterprise Saint John).

It is situated along the north shore of the Bay of Fundy at the mouth of the St. John River.

In 1964, the University of New Brunswick created UNB Saint John. Initially located in buildings throughout the downtown CBD, in 1968 UNBSJ opened a new campus in the city's Tucker Park neighbourhood.

The city also hosts a New Brunswick Community College campus in the East End. This is the largest NBCC campus in the province.

Reversing Falls:

The New Brunswick Museum was established in 1842 and is the oldest continuing museum in Canada. The museum recently (1996) moved to a new city centre location at Market Square.
Carleton Martello Tower:
Martello towers were originally used as watch towers in the Mediterranean area during the Napoleonic Wars. The British copied the ingenious design that they had found to be so difficult to defeat.
Rockwood Park:

Barbour's General Store:
This museum, an authentic nineteenth-century country general store, was restored by the G.E. Barbour Company in 1967 to mark the centennial year of both Canada and the G.E. Barbour Company. The store was originally located at Sheffield, New Brunswick, 60 miles up the St. John River. It was floated down the river by barge in two pieces and set up on King Street East in 1967. It was moved to its present site in 1981.
Loyalist House:
Loyalist House was constructed in 1811 by David Daniel Merrit, a Loyalist from Rye, New York and completed in 1817. The house was acquired in 1959 by the New Brunswick Historical Society from the fourth generation of the Merritt family. It remains today very much as it was when it was built--a gracious Georgian mansion of a successful Loyalist family. It is a fitting tribute to the excellence of the early craftsmen of Saint John.
Cherry Brook Zoo and Vanished Kingdom:
It's monkey business as usual at the Cherry Brook Zoo, the first accredited zoo in Atlantic Canada. Cherry Brook is a specialist zoo with over 35 species of exotic and endangered animals, from Zebra to Emu and the elusive Wildebeest. See magnificent members of the cat family, including Siberian Tigers, Jaguar and African Lions. Several primates also call Cherry Brook Zoo home, including the highly endangered Golden Lion Tamarin. It's the deepest, darkest jungle in Rockwood Park and you're invited.
