A little about Park City...

Park City is a city located in Summit County, Utah, United States. It is one of two major resort towns in Utah, the other being Moab. It is considered to be part of the Wasatch Back and a part of the Salt Lake City metropolitan area. The city is 32 miles (48 km) east of downtown Salt Lake City and 15 miles (24km) from Salt Lake City's east edge of Sugarhouse along Interstate 80. The population was 7,371 at the 2000 census. Its estimated population in 2004 was 7,882. On average, the tourist population greatly outnumbers full-time residents.

The city has three major ski resorts: Park City Mountain Resort, Deer Valley Resort, and The Canyons Resort. The Park City and Deer Valley ski resorts were the major locations for ski and snowboarding events at the 2002 Winter Olympics. Although they receive less snow and have a shorter ski season than do their counterparts in Salt Lake County, such as Snowbird resort, they are much easier to access.

Additionally the city is the main location of the United States's largest independent film festival, the Sundance Film Festival, home of the United States Ski Team, the largest collection of factory outlet stores in northern Utah, the Olympic bobsled course, a luge run, and golf courses. Outdoor-oriented businesses such as backcountry.com and Rossignol have their headquarters based in Park City. The city has many upscale luxury national retailers, clubs, bars, and restaurants, and has nearby reservoirs, hot springs, forests, and hiking and biking trails. Park City is also the original home of the Mrs. Fields Cookies chain.

Park City Mountain Resort is a ski resort in Park City, Utah. The resort has been a major tourist attraction for skiers from all over the United States, as well as main employer for many people in Park City. Park City, as it is often called by locals, holds many training courses for the U.S. Ski Team, including slalom and giant slalom runs. The resort hosted all snowboard events and the men's and women's alpine giant slalom events in the 2002 Winter Olympics.

When the slopes opened to the public, skiers were transported nearly 3 miles (5 km) into the mountain on the Spiro Tunnel mine train and then lifted 1800 ft (548 m) to the slopes on a mine hoist elevator. Aerial trams once used for hauling ore were converted into chairlifts. To this day, there are still more than 1000 miles (1609 km) of old silver-mine workings and tunnels beneath the slopes at Park City Mountain Resort and Deer Valley.

The Canyons Resort is one of three alpine ski resorts located in Park City, Utah. It is currently owned by the American Skiing Company.

Deer Valley Resort is a luxury ski resort located near the historic mining town of Park City, Utah approximately 36 miles (58 km) east of Salt Lake City. It has 21 chairlifts, 91 runs, and three day lodges. Deer Valley has 1,825 acres of mostly North-facing ski slopes. Lift ticket sales are limited to 6500 each day making it one of the highest uphill capacities in the United States.

Deer Valley Resort opened in December 1981. It was one of the first ski resorts to offer ski valets to carry guests' ski gear from their cars to the slopes, to provide free parking lot shuttles, to have a state-licensed child-care facility on site, to uniform all its employees from kitchen staff to lift attendants, to provide tissues in the lift lines, to refer to customers as “guests” as they would be called at a hotel, to provide complementary ski check even overnight, to offer pagers to parents with children in the Children's Center, so they can be reached at a moment's notice.

More than 500 acres have snowmaking machines.
