Yreka, the seat of Siskiyou County, is located adjacent to Interstate 5 at the northern end of the majestic Shasta Valley just twenty-two miles south of the Oregon border. The elevation of Yreka is approximately 2,500 feet above sea level. It is nestled in the Shasta Valley south of the Siskiyou Mountains and north of Mount Shasta, a dormant volcano towering above the valley at just over 14,000 feet above sea level.
